0138 R E S O L U T I O N \ C "J _ \ M t WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jack- sonville, hereby fully realizes and knows that their city and other cities in Pulaski County, Arkansas, have in the past had a lower utility rate from the Arkansas - Louisiana Gas Company than other areas of the State of Arkansas, and. . . WHEREAS, the Council fully realizes and knows that the costs involved in providing these utility services have increased in the immediate past and therefore the Arkansas - Louisiana Gas Company may be justified in seeking some rate increase, said Council hereby respectfully declares to the Public Service Commission for the State of Arkansas that it feels and believes that the proposed rate increase by the Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Company is excessive and en- tirely too great and that said rate increase will and does cause undue hardship at this time on the citizens and business enterprises of Jacksonville. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Jacksonville hereby declares that it believes that the pro- posed rate increase is unjustified in its size and magnitude. That while conceding that some rate increase may be justified, the Council states that any increase should be lower than that proposed by Arkla Gas; and rather than have an increase which will become effective immediately, said rate increase should occur gradually over a period of the next two or three years.
