0686 RESOLUTION NO, 686 (#12 - 2012) A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE PURCHASE OF ONE HUNDRED SIXTY(160)ACRES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPORT SHOOTING RANGE FACILITY FOR THE CITY;AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the sport of skeet and trap shooting, as well as 3D Archery, has become quite popular, particularly among Southern States, and Arkansas is without a large sport shooting facility that could support State, Regional,and National tournaments. In providing such, communities enjoy the benefits of travelers, community guests, and a substantial economic impact from tournaments and their participants; WHEREAS, through efforts by local citizens, the Arkansas Game&Fish Foundation is willing to commit to and provide a One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollar ($1,500,000.00) grant toward the purchase of sufficient real property and the construction of a Fifteen (15) station Sport Shooting Range with a 3D Archery facility upon certain conditions and commitments by the City; and, WHEREAS, there are few parcels of real estate that satisfy all of the requirements for such a facility within our area, and City leaders have located a parcel large enough and have obtained a commitment from the property owners for purchase of said property at an amount less than or equal to a recent real estate appraisal. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: SECTION ONE: The City Council of Jacksonville, Arkansas, supports the purchase of a certain parcel of real estate sufficient for the construction and operation of a Fifteen (15) station Sport Shooting Range within the City of Jacksonville. As a result, the Council authorizes Mayor Fletcher and City Clerk Davitt to execute and submit an Offer& Acceptance for the purchase of a One Hundred Sixty (160) acre parcel on Graham Road owned by the Wilson Family Limited Partnership and the Peacock Limited Partnership in an amount not to exceed Four Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars ($480,000.00) contingent upon said property valuation being equal to or greater than said amount. SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date of passage.
