AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, AND INSPECTION
FEE ASSESSMENTS, CODIFIED AS JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION
16.12.030,16.08.580, AND 16.08.600, RESPECTIVELY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY;
AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville's Public Works Department must raise building
inspection fees due to increased costs and demands.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: Jacksonville Municipal Code Section 16.12.030 (Applications and
permits) shall include the following amendments:
A. Before beginning any plumbing work in the City, the person installing the
same shall apply to the Public Works Department and obtain a permit to do such work. A
permit shall be issued to homeowners to do plumbing work or gas fitting in his home of
residence, providing the individual does the work themselves.
'—^ B. Application for permits shall be made on suitable forms provided by the
Public Works Department. The application shall be accompanied by fees in accordance
with the following schedule:
Water closet $5.00
Bathtub 4.00
Sink or lavatory 4.00
Dishwasher 5.00
Garbage disposal unit 4.00
Drinking fountain 4.00
Floor drain 6.00
Shower unit 6.00
Urinal 5.00
Washing machine (fixed) 5.00
Gas connection 8.00
Hot water heater 8.00
Other fixtures 5.00
A $10.00 per inspection fee for any inspections given inside the city limits and a
$20.00 per inspection fee for any inspections provided outside the city limits.
In the event an inspector is required to make more than one (1) visit for the purpose
of re -inspection of work due to violation of Code rules or regulations, wrong address, or
any other irregularities caused by the master plumber or their agents, a charge of $10.00
shall be made for each additional visit inside the City limits and $20.00 for each additional
visit outside the City.

SECTION TWO: Jacksonville Municipal Code Section 16.08.580 (Permit
applications - Fee schedule) shall include the following amendments:
A. All applications for permits shall be accompanied by the inspection fees as
hereinafter provided for.

Re -inspection fees of $10.00 will be assessed for those inspections conducted inside the
city limits and $20.00 for those outside the city limits.
SECTION THREE: Jacksonville Municipal Code Section 16.08.600 (Additional
inspection trips due to applicant error) shall include the following amendments:
In the event an inspector is required to make more than one (1) visit for the purpose of re-
inspection of work due to violation of Code regulations or rules, wrong address, or any
other irregularities caused by the master electrician or his agents, a charge of $10.00 per
visit shall be made for each additional required visit within the city limits or $20.00 for
each additional visit outside the city limits.
SECTION FOUR: All other terms of the specified sections within the Jacksonville
Municipal Code not specifically modified shall remain in full force and effect and are not amended
by the terms and conditions of this Ordinance except as specifically provided for herein.

SECTION FIVE: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION SIX: Because of the immediate financial demands and the necessity of
increasing the effectiveness of the Public Works Department, it is imperative that the above
prescribed changes be implemented immediately. Therefore, to promote public health, safety, and
welfare, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its date of passage.
