APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Walker moved, seconded by Commissioner Hardwick that the
minutes of the Board of Adjustment Meeting of August 10, 1998 be
APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED.
VARIANCE REQUEST: Mrs. Joy Owens related her request for a carport
extension in the front yard at 1708 Keaton Street. She explained that
she did not have access from the side of the house and that an existing
sewer line determined the only other placement for a carport extension.
She related that other homes on the street have similar carport
extensions and presented an estimate from Care-Free Aluminum Products
Inc. who would be performing the work.
Being professionally installed it was noted that it would be metal with
steel gutters.
It was noted that there has been no objection from Mrs. Owens neighbors
and City Engineer Reel related that the property was properly posted.
Commissioner Nabors moved to approve the setback variance as requested.
Commissioner Walker seconded the motion and opened it for discussion for
a friendly amendment.
Commissioner Walker pointed out that other variances of this nature to
come before the Board had additionally received written approval from the
adjacent neighbors.

MINUTES: BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
DATE AND TIME: October 12, 1998 6:30 p.m.- 6:45 p.m.
Commissioner Nabors moved to amend the motion to include written approval
from the adjacent neighbors, seconded by Commissioner Walker.
Discussion ensued and it was related that Mrs. Owens has only one
neighbor adjacent to her property.
MOTION CARRIED.
Chairman Perry related that the second request is from Pulaski County
Special School District for a ten foot building line variance for an
Athletic facility to be located at 2400 Linda Lane (Jacksonville High
School).
It was related that because of the location of an existing sewer line the
proposed development needed to be located on said property as shown by
plat which would require a ten foot building line variance instead of the
usual 35' setback.
In response to a question posed by Commissioner Hardwick, it was related
that the development would be a 100' by 150' metal building.
He related that the property had been properly posted.
Commissioner Boroughs moved, seconded by Commissioner Hardwick to grant
the variance of a 10' building line setback. MOTION CARRIED.
ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Walker moved, seconded by Commissioner
Hardwick to adjourn the meeting at approximately 6:40 p.m. MOTION
CARRIED.
Respectfully,
