MINUTES: BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
DATE AND TIME: October 22, 1997 4:00 p.m.- 4:10 p.m.

and John Hardwick

Deputy City Clerk Susan L. Davitt recorded those listed above in
attendance and Acting Chairman Perry declared a quorum.
APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Nabors moved, seconded by Commissioner Hardwick that
the minutes of the Board of Adjustment Meeting of September 10,
1997 be APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED.
VARIANCE REQUEST: 608 North First Street/Maximum Square Footage
(Ch. 18.86.050 Jax. Mun. Code)
Acting Chairman Perry called the meeting to order and introduced
the item of business. He invited Mr. Hudson to address the Board.
Mr. Hudson related that the request for a 30 by 60-foot pole barn
was to be placed on his property behind the existing residence. He
stated that his reason for the request was for storage of antique
vehicles.
Discussion ensued as to the type of construction being metal with
treated poles inside the structure, adding that final cost will
determine a concrete or gravel floor.
Commissioner Hardwick cited an example where it was allowed because
of conformity with existing structures.
Planning Commissioner Gray stated concerns regarding aesthetics
asking about height and visibility regarding North First.
Other discussion involved aesthetics and the petitioner related
that he would be flexible with regard to door placement and height.
Commissioner Hardwick moved, seconded by Commissioner Nabors to
approve the request of a 30 by 60-foot pole barn to be located at

608 North First Street, stipulating that the maximum height be no
more than 12 foot. MOTION CARRIED.

Acting Chairman Perry adjourned the meeting at approximately 4:10
p.m.
