Deputy City Clerk Susan L. Davitt recorded those listed above in attendance and Chairman Brannen declared a quorum.
APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Boroughs moved, seconded by Commissioner Reid that the minutes of the Board of Adjustment Meeting of May 8, 1996 be APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED.
VARIANCE REQUEST: SIGN HEIGHT VARIANCE FOR SUBWAY, INC.
Chairman Brannen related that Mr. Bob Black of Subway is requesting a variance with regard to elevation of a sign to be located at 908 West Main, Lot 10, Block Two, Crestview Addition
which exceeds the height requirement allowed in the Jacksonville Municipal Code in Section 18.76.030. He related that the Code indicated that the maximum height is ten foot above the
height of the building or forty-five feet, whichever is less. He related the request for sign height of 35 feet and noting the height of the building is 18 feet.
Mr. Bob Black related that his reason for the request is to receive the maximum advertising benefit from sign height and block letters which are to be located along the east side of
the building.
City Engineer Reel related that Mr. Blacks request is ten feet below the maximum allowed if the building were taller. He noted that other signs for the area would be mounted below the
Subway sign on the same python.

Commissioner Boroughs moved, seconded by Commissioner Patton that the sign height variance be approved as requested. MOTION CARRIED.
MOBILE HOME PLACEMENT IN AN R-0 ZONING.
Chairman Brannen introduced the item of business and related that the proposed placement of the mobile home is #2 Nixon Drive. He stated that the request is in violation of the Jacksonville
Municipal Code Book Section 18.24.020.
Commissioner Reid asked that he be excused from the voting process, explaining that he is employed by the petitioner Mr. Larry Wilson.
Mr. Wilson explained that his parents were of the age where nearby care may become necessary, adding that the request is for placement of a mobile home adjacent to his parents’ home.
He related that the proposed location of the mobile home will not be visible from the street, adding that the neighbors do not have any objections.
City Engineer Reel related that the City did not object given that he has a place for sewer facilities.
Commissioner Baldwin related that he had looked at the area and did not see a problem regarding the request.
Commissioner Boroughs moved, seconded by Commissioner Baldwin that the request for the placement of a mobile home at #2 Nixon Drive be approved. MOTION CARRIED.
