1599ORDINANCE NO. 1599 (#06 - 2019) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE § 3.06.010; AMENDING THE HOTEL/MOTEL TAX UPON GROSS REVENUES OF HOTELS, MOTELS, BED & BREAKFAST, AND/OR OTHER SUCH SHORT TERM RENTAL ACCOMMODATIONS LOCATED WITHIN JACKSONVILLE; AMENDING JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE ,§ 290 DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, funds are needed for the development, establishment, improvement, maintenance, and operation of recreational and tourist facilities within the City of Jacksonville. It is believed that a Four Percent (4%) tax upon the gross receipts of hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, and other such short term rental accommodations would provide a source of revenue for Jacksonville recreational and tourist facilities and programs; and, WHEREAS, administration of such funds, if collected, would be controlled by and through the Jacksonville Advertising and Promotions Commission by action of the City Council, should implementation of such a tax be approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYOFJACKSONVILLE,ARKANSAS, THAT: SECTION ONE; Jacksonville Municipal Code § 3.06.010 (Hotel/Motel tax) shall be amended to include the following: JMC § 3.06.010. (Hotel/Motel Tax). There is to hereinafter be levied and collected a Four Percent (4 %) tax upon the gross receipts of hotels, motels, bed & breakfast, and other such short term rental accommodations for lodging, meeting, sleeping, and/or party room facilities located within the City of Jacksonville. Said accommodations shall not include the rental or lease of such accommodations for periods of thirty (30) days or more. SECTION TWO; Any such Ordinance or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. SECTION THREE; Because an emergency is hereby declared to exist, for the benefit of the health and safety of the citizens of Jacksonville, this Ordinance No. 1599 (#06 — 2019) Page Two Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its approval and passage.
