1597ORDINANCE NO. 1597 (#04 - 2019)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE § 18.76;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES,
WHEREAS, in review of recent modifications needed in various provisions of the City
of Jacksonville's Sign Ordinance, the City Council of the City of Jacksonville deems it
appropriate to update and modify additional provisions of IMC § 18.76.
NOW THEREFORE REIT ORDAINEDAND ENACTED 8YTHE CITYCOUNCIL
OF THE CIfY OFJACKS&NVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE; Jacksonville Municipal Code § 18.76 is hereby amended
and modified to include the additions and modifications as included, outlined, and specified
herein.
SECTION TWO: JMC § 18.76.030 (Requirements) shall be amended and
modified to include the following:
O. Rea/ Estate Sign. All signs advertising the availability of particular residential
property for sale or rent shall not exceed Thirty inches by Thirty -Six inches (30" X 36'x. All
signs advertising the availability of particular commercial and/or manufacturing property for
sale or rent shall not exceed Four feet by Eight feet (4' X 8'). Placement of additional
directional or informational signs may be allowed at strategic points to assist the general
public in locating the specific property in question but shall not exceed Eighteen inches by
Twenty-four inches (18" X 24"). No such directional/informational/real estate sign shall be
permanent in nature and/or be allowed within public easements and/or rights-of-way.
Further, there is no requirement for the City to issue permits for real estate signs of this
nature.
SECTION THREE: Should any part(s) of this Ordinance be declared invalid
for any reason, no other part(s) of the Ordinance shall be affected thereby.
SECTION FOUR: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION FIVE: If the City Government is to operate in an economical
and efficient manner, it is imperative that the modifications herein be implemented as soon
as practical. Therefore, to promote the public welfare, health, and safety, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after
February 7, 2019.
