AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE RATES OF THE JACKSONVILLE FIRE
DEPARTMENT'S EMERGENCYSERVICES DIVISION; AMENDINGJMC§8,48.050;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services has
provided superior emergency medical treatment and care within Jacksonville and
surrounding areas for more than Thirty-four (34) years;
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville can no longer financially subsidize the
Emergency Medical Services and must raise basic rates for such services to make this
Division more cost effective and self-supporting, noting that there has not been a rate
increase since 2010; and,
WHEREAS, a survey of other surrounding cities that provide similar emergency
services reflects that an increase in rates as provided herein still provides quality
emergency medical services and remains less expensive than similar services in
surrounding areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFJACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS.-
SECTION
RKANSAS.
SECTION ONE; JMC § 8.48.050 shall be amended to read as follows:
The basic charges to be paid for use of the Emergency Services Division shall be as
follows:
A. Basic Life Support (BLS) Non -Emergency rate — Four Hundred Ninety-five Dollars
($495.00) for emergency services charged on a per run basis for any services provided;
B. Basic Life Support (BLS) Emergency rate — Five Hundred Twenty-five Dollars
($525.00) for emergency services charged on a per run basis for any services provided;
C. Advanced Life Support (ALS) Non -Emergency rate — Five Hundred Fifty Dollars
($550.00) for emergency services charged on a per run basis for any services provided;
D. Advanced Life Support (ALS) One (1) Emergency rate — Six Hundred Dollars
($600.00) for emergency services charged on a per run basis for any services provided;

E. Advanced Life Support (ALS) Two (2) Emergency rate — Eight Hundred Dollars
($800.00) for emergency services charged on a per run basis for any services provided;
and,
F. Mileage — Twelve Dollars ($12.00) per patient mile for any loaded distance
driven to a Medical Facility.
SECTION TWO: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances and Resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict.
SECTION THREE: If the City Government is to operate in an economical and
efficient manner, it is imperative that the increase in base rates created herein be
implemented as soon as practical. Therefore, to promote the public welfare, health, and
safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect on and after January 1, 2019.
