AN ORDINANCE REQUESTING THE PULA SKI COUNTY ELECTION
COMMISSION IDENTIFY THE BOUNDARIES AND LEGAL.
DESCRIPTION OF THE NOW DEFUNCT VOTING DISTRICT
FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE GRAY TOWNSHIP THAT INCLUDES A
SUBSTANTIAL PORTION OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, recent amendment to ACA § 3-8-602 authorizes and
designates a procedure for a Local Option Election to permit sales of
alcoholic beverages for on -premises consumption within the corporate limits
of a City of the First and Second Classes;.
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville City Council understands and believes
that seeking information for such a Local Option Election would be beneficial
to the economic development of the. City of Jacksonville; and,
WHEREAS, to initiate the process, the City of Jacksonville must
obtain the boundaries and .legal description of the now defunct voting district
formerly known as the Gray Township, which encompassed a substantial
portion of the City, from the Pulaski County Election Commission.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED .BY. THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OFJACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; THAT
SECTION ONE. Being a. City of the: First Class, the City
Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas; hereby request that.the Pulaski
County Election Commission issue a Resolution, pursuant. to ACA § 3-86021.
as amended, identifying the boundaries of the defunct voting district(s).
known. as the Gray Township for 1954, 1956, and 1982, including out not
limited to, Precinct 614; in which those qualified voters within Pulaski County
reside/resided.
SECTION TWO; It is requested that said Resolution
contain, at a minimum, the following:
.a) The territorial subdivisions that are located, wholly or partially, within
borders of the stated defunct voting district;
b) The formal or informal name of the defunct district as of the last date
the defunct district held an election resulting in its current dry status;.
c) The date(S) of which the..defunct voting district held local option
election(s) that resulted .in the defunct. voting. district becoming dry;
d) Boundaries of the defunct district at the times of the local option
election resulting in the defunct voting district becoming dry;

e) Reference to. records used by the Election Commission to rely and
create the information contained in the Resolution; and,
f) A Map(s) of the boundaries of the subject defunct voting district from
which qualified electors residing within the defunct voting district can.
be identified and verified for purposes. of conducting a Local Option
Election as outlined and authorized by ACA § 3-8-602.
SECTION THREE: The City Council request that the
Commission's Resolution be. issued and published pursuant to the directives.
provided. and authorized by ACA .:§ 3-8-602..
SECTION FOUR: Any other Resolutions in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the. extent of said. conflict. This. Resolution shall .be in
effect from and after its date of passage.
