ORDINANCE NO. 1346 ( #13 - 08)
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND /OR HIS DESIGNATED
REPRESENTATIVE(S) TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE AND ITS FIRE DEPARTMENT WITH HGAC
PURCHASING SERVICE; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES,
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Fire Department is desirous of purchasing needed
equipment and apparatus at the best and least costly prices available; and,
WHEREAS, HGAC Purchasing Service is a Texas based purchasing consortium
with numerous vendors. As such the Fire Department can purchase their needed
equipment and apparatus from the consortium at a significantly lower price than
what is available on the open market. The Jacksonville Fire Department
recommends that the Mayor and/or his designated representative(s) be allowed to
enter into a contract with HGAC for purchase of the City of Jacksonville and the
Jacksonville Fire Department needed equipment and apparatus available through
HGAC.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: Because the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Fire
Department can purchase needed equipment and apparatus from HGAC Purchasing
Service of Houston, Texas, at a significantly lower cost to the City than that
available on the open market, the City recommends doing so as authorized under
ACA §19 -11 -201 et. seq.
SECTION TWO: The Mayor and /or his designated representative(s) are
hereby authorized to enter into a contract with HGAC to obtain needed equipment
and apparatus for the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Fire Department. The
City and the Department shall follow the same procurement procedures required
when purchasing items or securing services through the Arkansas Office of State
Procurement when making purchases through HGAC.
SECTION THREE: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
passage and publication, as provided by and subject to the requirements of
applicable law.
