1338 ORDINANCE NO. 1338 ( #5 - 08)
AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE
OF TASER WEAPONS, ACCESSORIES, EQUIPMENT, AND SOFTWARE FOR
T H E JA CKS O N VI L L E POLICE DEPARTMENT, D ECL A R I N G A N EMERGENCY;
AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Police Department is in need of Taser X -26
Weapons, accessories, equipment, and software for use by Jacksonville Police
Officers; and,
WHEREAS, TEECO of Shreveport, Louisiana is qualified to provide such
tasers, accessories, equipment, and software. TEECO has agreed to do so at a
competitive cost, in a quick manner, and is a sole source of such weapons
accessories equipment, and software in the ARK- LA -TEX. As such, the Department
waiver of competitive bidding and that they be allowed to contract
with TEECO to purchase the needed tasers, accessories, equipment, and software.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT ::
SECTION ONE: Competitive bidding for the purchase of tasers,
accessories equipment, and the accompanying software for the Jacksonville Police
Department would be costly and non - productive, making said competitive bidding
unfeasible and impractical.
SECTION TWO: Competitive bidding is hereby waived pursuant to ACA
T 14 -58 -383, to authorize the purchase of up to Twenty (20) X -26 TASER CAMTM
asers, needed accessories, equipment, and software for the Jacksonville Police
Department. Authorization is hereby given to the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into
a contract with TEECO of Shreveport, Louisiana, for the purchase of said tasers,
accessories, equipment, and software for the Jacksonville Police Department at a
cost not to exceed Twenty -nine Thousand Four Hundred Dollars $29,400.00),
together with any applicable tax and shipping charges.
SECTION THREE: All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or previous actions
taken by said Council in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
passage and publication, as provided by and subject to the requirements of
applicable law.
