ORDINANCE NO. 4 9 0
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE 396 OF 1976 AND
SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE 110 OF 1960, SECTION 2.28.020 OF THE
JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES. (limiting terms of Hospital Commission members)
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, that:
SECTION 1: Section 2 of Ordinance 396 of 1976 and
Section 2 of Ordinance 110 of 1960, Section 2.28.020 of the
Jacksonville Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
A. Hospital commissioners shall be appointed by the
mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the duly elected
and qualified members of the city council and shall hold
office for a term of five years; provided, however, that
those commissioners first appointed and confirmed shall serve
for terms to be designated by the mayor and city council of
one, two, three four and five years each, In the event a
vacancy occurs on the commission, it shall be filled by ap-
pointment by the mayor subject to the approval of a majority
vote of the duly elected and qualified members of the city
council. In the event the commission is increased by two,
the two new commissioners shall serve for a term of five
years; provided, however, that of those two new commissioners
appointed, one shall serve for a term of four years and one
for a term of five years to be designated by the mayor and
city council. Each commissioner shall file the oath required
by law in the State of Arkansas of public officials. (Ord.

B. No member shall be eligible to serve more than
two consecutive terms."
SECTION 2: This Ordinance being necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public, health, welfare, safety
and morale of the citizens of the City of Jacksonville, Arkan-
sas, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and the above
Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately after
its passage.
