He stated that the new bridge would have sidewalks on both sides and a

replaced first in phase I and the traffic will be diverted. He stated
that the second phase will consist of tearing the old bridge down,
salvage pieces from the old bridge to be reused and then build the other
half of the new bridge. He noted that the existing bridge is
approximately 50’ and the new bridge will be 60’, adding that the opening
of the new bridge is sized for a 100 year flood.

obtained by the Arkansas Highway Department, the same that is now done
under the State contract. He clarified that the idea is that given the
equipment that is bid by the Highway Department, the City will save time
and money in being able to look at those bids when they match
specifications. He noted that because of the volume of equipment
purchased by the Highway Department they will typically get better bid
prices, which would be a benefit to the City. He noted that this would
provide an opportunity for the City to save money and make the purchase
process easier. He then stated that purchases above $20,000.00 would
still need to come before the City Council for approval, saying that the
only difference would be that the bid process was conducted by the
Highway Department.
