SUBJECT: Ordinance No. 388
Ordinance No. 388 amends the existing ordinance to read one thou-
sand dollars instead of one hundred dollars. Building permits are
now issued based on one thousand dollar figure and if the old
amendment was enforced as written it would increase building per-
mit costs ten times.
Section II of this ordinance is changed to read sixteen dollars
per square foot as opposed to the existing ten dollars per square
foot. The reason for this change is simply economy. This is
approximately a sixty percent increase over the ordinance that was
passed in March of 1965 and amended March 1969. This will not
amount to an increase to builders except when a dispute arises.
Builders are now sending building permits in with costs per square
foot from ten dollars to twenty -seven dollars per square foot. The
average price per square foot of housing is right at sixteen dollars
. so that this will be an average cost per building and will only be
used in cases where there is a dispute.
