A N ORD I N A N CE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 201 AND ORDINANCE
NO. 233 OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, PROVIDING FOR THE ALLOW-
ANCE OF- ALUMINUM ROMEX WIRING TO BE USED IN STRUCTURES
COVERED BY THIS ORDINANCE, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDPJN ED BY THE CITY OF JACK-
.
SONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. Section 16(d) of Ordinance No. 201 and Section 3 of -
Ordinance No. 233 are hereby amended to read as follows:
"All wiring for lights, power and heat for apartment buildings---- -
single family residences and townhouses of two stories or less (base -
.
ment excluded) shall be installed with wire not smaller than No. 12
copper or No. 10 copper -clad, allowing eight (8) outlets per circuit
except in the kitchen, where only four (4) outlets per circuit shall be
a
allowed. No. 14 copper wire will be allowed on switch legs only. All
receptacles shall be of the grounded type and all circuits shall be pro-
vided with a third wire for a continuous ground all the way back to the
point of grounding at the service. Aluminum Romex (non - metallic
sheathed cable Number 10 or larger shall be allowed in structures
covered by this section."
Section 2. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict •
herewith are repealed.
Section 3. The City Council of the City of Jacksonville has deter-
Mined that due to the tremendous amount of construction currently underway
in the City this ordinance is necessary to insure the peace, health and safety,
therefore, an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
