° ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES NO. 43 AND 195 TO PROVIDE
FOR AN INCREASE IN WATER METER DEPOSITS; DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas has determined that
the current meter deposit is insufficient to reimburse the City on defaulted
and unpaid water bills.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, that:
SECTION 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 195 dated October
19, 1967, which amends Section 3 of Ordinance No. 43 dated August 13,
1953, shall be amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. That before an order to turn on water shall be issued,

/nvjektit 1= , a sum (meter deposit) corresponding with the meter deposit rate for
the meter size in place or to be placed on the water service line of the new
customer; this meter deposit to be returned to the customer, less any amount
due for water and sewer service, upon discontinuing such service. The mini-
mum meter rate shall be $15.00 for meters ranging in size from 5/8" to
3/4 ". Meter deposit rates for larger size meters shall be levied at the dis-
cretion of the City, based upon the size meter used or to be used."
SECTION 2. That this ordinance being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health, safety, welfare and moral of the citizens of
the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall have full force and effect immediately after
its passage.
