AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 150 PROVIDING FOR THE
PICK UP, HAULING AWAY AND DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND RUBBISH
WITHIN THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, .ARKANSAS, that:
SECTION 1. That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 150 of the City of
Jacksonville, Arkansas, should be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 5. The occupants of every private residence shall place
all garbage and rubbish in plastic bags or metallic cans and on the day of gar-
bage collection the plastic bags or metallic cans shall be placed at curbside
along the street where the residence is situated. Metallic cans at residences
shall not exceed thirty (30) gallons in capacity. Metallic garbage cans with
tight fitting covers are permissible for businesses and shall not be larger than
fifty -five (55) gallon capacity, where cans are provided. Bins for large busi-
nesses, having large deposits of garbage and rubbish, where cans are not
feasible, shall be of such construction and quality as to prevent leakage; and
shall be of large enough capacity to prevent overflow on the ground and surround-
ing areas."
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict.
SECTION 3. This ordinance being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health, safety, welfare and moral e of the citizens
of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall have full force and effect immediately after its
passage.
