AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION OF BILLIARD PARLORS,
POOL HALLS AND SNOOKER PARLORS WITHIN THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the operation of Billiard Parlors, Pool Halls and
Snooker Parlors within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, on the
first day of the week, commonly known as Sunday, has been deter-
mined to be a public nuisance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, that:
Section 1. The word "person" used herein shall be construed
to include any natural person, partnership, club, association or
corporation.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate
for financial gain or profit any type of billiard parlor, pool
hall or snooker parlor within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas,
on the first day of the week, commonly known as Sunday.
Section Any person found guilty of violating this ordi-
nance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction
thereof for the first offense, be sentenced to pay a fine of not
exceeding $100.00 and for the second or any subsequent offense
committed within one year after conviction for the first offense,
be sentenced to pay a fine of not exceeding $200.00 or undergo
imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days, or both.
Section l That this ordinance being necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health, safety, welfare and
morals of the citizens of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall
have full force and effect i.mmedi ay�ly after its passage.
