AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 111, SECTION 3,
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the. City Council to
adjust and amend certain salaries of city officials so
that their pay scale will be more in line with the
present cost of living; and
WHEREAS, amendments have been made to the original
salary ordinance by subsequent ordinances thereto on
dates in the past, and the law needs to be clarified and
codified in a single ordinance on the subject;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT
SECTION 1. That Ordinance Number 111, Section 3,
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 3. The annual salary of the
officials of the City of Jacksonville,
beginning January 1, 1967, shall be the
following:
Mayor $5,000.00 Clerk $5,000,00
Treasurer 720.00 Attorney 1,800.00
Aldermen 720.00"
SECTION 2. That Ordinances Number 146, 166 and 167,
together with any and all other ordinances which may be
dec]ared to be in conflict with this Ordinance be and the
same are hereby repealed to the extent of any conflict.
SECTION 3. That if any section, sentence or paragraph
of this Ordinance be declared illegal or unconstitutional
that such illegality of such portion hereof shall not affect
the validity of any other portion.
SECTION 4. That an emergency is hereby declared to
exist for the preservation of health, safety, and welfare
of the citizens of the City of Jacksonville;" it being
necessary to preserve continuity of services of the officials
thereof by proper payment for services rendered; and in
order to meet such emergency this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
