ORDINANCE NO. AN
AN ORDINANCE FOR THE PRUPOSE OF ASSESSING FIVE MILLS, THREE
AND ONE - HALF MILLS, ONE -HALF MILL AND ONE -HALF MILL; TOTALLING
NINE AND ONE- -HALF MILLS TAX AGAINST PERSONAL AND REAL PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS; AND FOR THE FURTHER PRUPOSE OF SUSPENDING THREE AND
ONE-HALF MILLS TAX FOR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BONDS FOR THE
YEAR 1966.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to meet current obligations and
expenses of the City, to levy upon all real and personal
property within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, a tax of
five (5) mills to be collected with the taxes collected in
the year 1967; and
WHEREAS, an Ordinance Numbered 113, dated December 1, 1960,
was passed by the City Council of the City of Jacksonville,
Arkansas, authorizing the issuance of bonds for the purpose of
acquring a site for, construction and equipping a municipal
hospital, levying a tax sufficient to pay the principal and
interest of such bonds; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary, in order to pay the bonds, together
with interest thereon, to levy upon all real and personal
property within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, a continuing
special tax of three and one -half (32) mills to be collected
with the taxes collected in the year 1967; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 172, dated May 19, 1966, was passed
by the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and
called for a special electio to determine the question of
levying a tax of one -half mill on all personal and real property
within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, for the purpose of
establiching and funding a Firemen's Relief wed Pension Fund; and
an election subsequently held at which the qualified electors
of said city voted in favor of such tax to be collected with
the taxes collected in the year 1967; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 172, dated May 19, 1966, was passed
by the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and
coiled for a special election to determine the question of
levying a tax of one -half mill on all personal and real property
within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, for the purpose of
establishing and funding a Policemen's Pension and Relief Fund; and
an election was subsequently held at which the qualified electors
of said city voted in favor of such tax to be collected with

the taxes collected in the year 1967; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 179, dated August 18, 1966, was
passed by the City Council of the City of Jacksonville,
Arkansas, authorizing the issuance of Industrial Development
Bonds, under Amendment #49 of the Constitution of the State
of Arkansas, levying a tax sufficient to pay the principal and
interest of such bonds; and finding that a levy of three and
one -half (32) mills would be a sufficient amount to pay such
sums; and
WHEREAS, it will not be necessary to levy any tax upon the
real and personal property assessed during the year 1966 and
to be collected duringthe year 1967 for the payment of such
bonds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, That:
SECTION 1. That a tax of Nind and ONE -HALF (92) Mills on
each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal
property within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, be and
the same is hereby levied by the City Council of the City of
Jacksonville, Arkansas, to be collected with the taxes collected
in the year 1967 for the purpose of general revenues, hospital
bond issue, establishing and funding Firemen's Relief and
Pension Fund and Policemen's Pension and Relief Fund; and
SECTION 2. That the tax of Three and One -Half (32) Mills on
each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal
property within the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, for the
purpose of paying the principal and interest on Industrial
Development Bonds under Amendment 49 of the Constitution of
the State ofArkansas, be and the same is suspended for the
year 1966 and shall not be collected in the year 1967.
SECTION 3. That a certified copy of this Ordinance be
delivered by the City Clerk of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas,
to the County Clerk of Pulaski County, Arkansas, whose duty it
shall be to extend said nine and one -half (9=) mills tax against
all real and personal property assessments made ggainst properties
within the corporate limits of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas.

SECTION 4. That this Ordinance shall be II full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
