W 'X!.AS, the State Board of Municipal Corporations did, en the 7th day of June, 1960, advance the City of Jacksonville to a City of the First Class and it is now necessary that the city reorganize itself as a City of the First Class. NEW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDADNO BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF JA.CRSONvLrJ?, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The City of Jacksonville is hereby declared to be City of the First Class with all the rights and privileges as such City of the First Class. The officials of Jacksonville are officials of a City of te First Class and shall continue in office until their sucessors are elected and qualified. SECTION 2. At General Election in 1960 (On the Tuesday following the first Monday in Noverrter) being the next regular tire for the election of municipal officers in the City of Jacksonville, the qualified electors of the City of Jacksonville shall elect a City Clerk, City Attorney and one Alderman from each Ward for a regular term of Two (2) years beginning January 1, 1961. Then on Tuesday following the first Monday in November, 1961, the qualified electors of the City of Jacksonville shall elect a Meyer, Treasurer and one Alder- man from each Hard for a regular term of Two(2) years beginning January 1, 1962. SECTION 3 The (Annual or Monthly) salary of the officials of the City of Jackson- ville, beginning January 1, 1961, shall be as follows: MAYOR • CI TY ATTORNEY S CITE CLERK $ -. ATMRMEN TREASURER $ SECTION !s. The present Aldermen shall draw lots to determine which offices shell be elected in even nurbered or odd numbered years. Candidates for Alderman in the City of Jacksonville shall reside in their resvectiveWards and shall be elected by the qualified electors of the entire city. SECTION 5. All ordinances or tarts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after ita passage and publication. SECTION 6.
