0736RESOLUTION NO. 736 (#02 - 2016)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE PASSAGE OF A
MILLAGE INCREASE FOR THE JACKSONVILLE/NORTH PULASKI
SCHOOL DISTRICT; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, citizens of Jacksonville struggled and sought over Forty (40)
years for a quality education and to create an independent school system. Through
overwhelming public support, a new School District was created in 2014. The City
of Jacksonville encourages its citizens to continue their support of the newly formed
Jacksonville/North Pulaski School District as it seeks to create the physical plants
needed for the newly formed School District;
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville City Council is dedicated to the unlimited
possibilities available for all students' educational process when area voters support
passage of the School District's increased Millage being proposed on the February
9, 2016, Special Election ballot; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that, in doing so, this investment in
the City's future will keep these funds within our Community, will serve as a primary
development tool for our Community, and that new school facilities will play a key
role in attracting families to stay and/or move into the City of Jacksonville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City Council expresses its support for the
passage of the proposed Millage increase by the Jacksonville/North Pulaski School
District and encourages registered voters in Jacksonville to Move Forward and vote
YES for our Community's young people in support of the Millage increase on
Tuesday, February 9, 2016.
SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage:
