AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 552 WHICH REQUIRED HOUSE
NUMBERING WITHIN THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ADDING CHAPTER 12.28
TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF JACKSONVILLE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: Whereas there was already a Chapter 12.24 to
the Municipal Code of Jacksonville and whereas Ordinance No.
552, if amended can correct the duplication, Ordinance No.
552 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 1: There is hereby added to the Municipal Code
of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Chapter 12.28, which reads as follows:

12.28.01
REQUIRED
The owner of every house, building, or structure located
in the City of Jacksonville shall maintain or immediately, if
not now present, attach to, paint, or in some other manner
display on or near the front entrance of such house, building,
or structure the number of such house, building, or structure.
The numbers shall comply with any and all Postal regulations,
and they shall be clearly visible from the street along which
the house, building, or structure is located.
12.28.02 CITY INSPECTOR TO ASSIGN NUMBERS
The City Inspector is hereby authorized and empowered to
assign numbers to any and all houses, buildings, or structures
within the city. Further, the City Inspector may r~quire that
an address be changed, where in his opinion such is deemed to
more logically reflect the location of any such house, building,
or structure.
12.28.03 PENALTY
Any owner, agent, person or persons having control of any
house, building, or structure of any and every kind and descrip-
tion, who shall violate, refuse or neglect to comply with the
provisions of this Chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction shall be fined in a sum no less than $25.00
nor more than $100.00."
SECTION 2: All ordinances in conflict with this ordinance
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 7th DAY OF APRIL, 1983;
WITH THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE. ORDINANCE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
