RESOLUTION NO. 415 ( #9 - 89)
A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING SETTLEMENT OF THE DISPUTE
BETWEEN THE NORTH LITTLE ROCK CITY GOVERNMENT AND
LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE REGARDING THE NORTH
LITTLE ROCK MUNICIPAL AIRPORT PROJECT; AND, FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Little Rock Air Force Base is a vital part of our
community and has a tremendous economic impact on the Central
Arkansas region. As such, city governments and agencies in the
area should be sympathetic and understanding of LRAFB's operations
and requirements.
WHEREAS, North Little Rock is a neighbor community in the
Central Arkansas region with whom we enjoy a positive, friendly,
and open relationship. We applaude and encourage their efforts of
progress in their community, for those efforts will benefit all
citizens of the Central Arkansas region.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jacksonville,
because of LRAFB's vital importance to Jacksonville and Central
Arkansas and because of the relationship with North Little Rock,
encourages a friendly resolution of the airport project dispute.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City Council of the City of Jacksonville
hereby extends to the North Little Rock City Council, the North
Little Rock Airport Commission, the Federal Aviation Administra-
tion, and the Little Rock Air Force Base their encouragement and
support for a resolution to the project dispute between the par-
ties. Good faith efforts and negotiations by all parties concerned
will aid in a quick and satisfactory resolution to the issue.
SECTION TWO: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION THREE: This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage.
