0639 RESOLUTION NO, 639 ( #1 - 2010)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT A N D WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE TO IMPROVE R E CR EA T IO NA L FACILITIES FOR THE CI TI ZENS
OF JACKSONVILLE AND TO SEEK GRANT FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR THE
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO DO 50; AND, FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, through its Parks and Recreation
Department, recognizes the need to provide public recreation facilities for its citizens
and visitors;
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville wishes to apply for General Improvement
Funds through the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for construction,
renovation, maintenance, and purchase of equipment for parks and recreation facilities
in the City of Jacksonville and understands that funds are available for such; and,
WHEREAS, any project utilizing state funding will be open and available for use
by the general public and duly maintained by the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 17 RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT
SECTION ONE: The City of Jacksonville agrees to participate in the
Arkansas Community Grants Program for sums appropriated to the Arkansas
Department of Parks and Tourism from State General Improvement Funds in
accordance with its designated obligations and responsibilities, including ongoing
maintenance of said projects.
SECTION TWO: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute all appropriate agreements and documents necessary to submit an
application for grant funding to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for
construction, renovation, maintenance, and purchase of equipment for parks and
recreation facilities in the City of Jacksonville, understanding that if awarded funds for
recreational development and improvements, said funds must be properly accounted
for and projects completed no later than June 30, 2011.

SECTION THREE: The City Council pledges its full support and hereby
authorizes the appropriate City of Jacksonville officials and /or employees to submit an
application for grant funding to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism,
recognizing the City's contractual obligation to provide the necessary resources to
maintain the new /improved facilities for a minimum of Fifteen (15) years.
SECTION FOUR: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage.
