RESOLUTION NO. 549 ( #9 - 2001)
A RESOLUTION TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO ADDRESS THE
JACKSONVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT'S APPLICATION
FOR GRANT FUNDING AND TO ESTABLISH RECREATION PRIORITIES IN
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City, through the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation
Department, plans to submit an application to secure a grant from the Arkansas
Department of parks & Tourism's Land, Water, & Conservation Fund. Possible use
for such grant funds could assist in paying a portion of the cost of
renovation /replacement of the outdoor pool facilities in Pleasure Park; and,
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville City Council and Parks and Recreation
Commission wish to obtain public input and establish recreational priorities for the
community through public input at a public hearing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: A public information meeting will be held during
the regularly scheduled Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on
Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible. The
meeting will be held at the Jacksonville Community Center, #5 Municipal Drive,
Jacksonville, Arkansas, and the Commission will discuss the application to obtain
Arkansas 50/50 matching grant monies and establish recreational priorities for the
Community.
SECTION TWO: In addition, the Jacksonville City Council shall
host a public hearing regarding recreational facilities priorities and the use of
matching City monies to support the grant request for funding. Said Public Hearing
shall be held on Thursday, June 21, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as
possible to obtain public input on the issue of recreational priorities needed by the
Community. The Public Hearing shall be held in the Council Chambers, Jacksonville
City Hall, #1 Municipal Drive, Jacksonville, Arkansas.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish
notice of said Public Hearing in a newspaper having greater circulation within the
City of Jacksonville a minimum of one (1) time and with the first publication being
no later than seven (7) days before said Public Hearing.
SECTION FOUR: All Resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. .,
