0786 ,,~ ORDINANCE NO. 786 (#19-85) AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE: DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, it is necessary under Arkansas law to provide workmen's compensation insurance for the employees of the City of Jacksonville, and WHEREAS, State law sets the premiums and there is no variance of price between insurance companies, and WHEREAS, the Insurance Mart has provided excellent service to the City on other contracts of insurance, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: 1. Competitive bidding for workmen's compensation insurance for the City of Jacksonville would be costly and nonproductive, making said competitive bidding not feasible or practical as there is no variance in rates as same are set by State law. 2. We hereby waive competitive bidding pursuant to Ark. Stat. Ann. S19-4425, for the purchase of workmen's compensation insurance and authorize the purchase for said insurance through Tim Sparks of The Insurance Mart. 3. Whereas, there exists an emergency situation as a result of a need for City employees to be covered by workmen's compensation insurance, it is necessary for the protection of the citizens' public health, safety and welfare, for this ordinance to be in effect immediately.
