AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING IN
REGARD TO CONTRACTING FOR THE PURCHASE OF UNIFORMS FOR THE POLICE
AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS, CITY OF JACKSONVILLE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1: Pursuant to Arkansas Statutes Annotated Section
19-4425, we hereby waive the requirements of competitive bidding
in regard to the purchase of uniforms for the Police and Fire
Departments.
Section 2: We hereby state that the requirements of compe-
titive bidding in this instance would not be feasible or practical
in that the only other company in the area who is a supplier of
uniforms, Farrios, Inc., has failed to perform the contract satis-
factorily in the past causing said contract to be cancelled. That
the only only remaining competitor for these uniforms is Schneider's
of North Little Rock, Arkansas. They have submitted quotes and
under these circumstances competitive bidding would be fruitless
and nonproductive and costly to the City.
Section 3: We hereby authorize the City of Jacksonville's
Police and Fire Departments to contract with Schneider's of North
Little Rock, Arkansas, pursuant to the terms as set out in the
QUOTATION dated November 20, 1984 for the 1985 year.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewi tll are hereby repealed to the extent of any such
conflict.
