0412 RESOLUTION NO. 412
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING POLICE OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, STATEWIDE ARREST AUTHORITY; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Act 846 of 1989 was passed by the Arkansas
General Assembly in order to give peace officers authority to
make arrests outside their jurisdiction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, THAT:
SECTION ONE: A police officer of the City of Jacksonville
is hereby granted arrest authority in the following areas:
State of Arkansas
when he is working at the request of or with permission of the
municipal or county law enforcement agency having jurisdiction in
that local area.
SECTION TWO: Police officers of this City shall obtain
permission from the Chief of Police or his designate prior to
assisting another law enforcement agency. In the event of an
emergency call for assistance from another law enforcement
agency, the Chief of Police or his designate may grant permission
to officers to respond to the call for assistance.
SECTION THREE: Police officers are discouraged from
making arrests in another jurisdiction unless accompanied by an
officer from the agency having jurisdiction. In the event of a
serious crime, officers who have received permission from the
agency having jurisdction may take the necessary law enforcement
action if it can be done safely.
SECTION FOUR: When working with another law enforcement
agency, police officers of this City will continue to be governed
by the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the
Jacksonville Police Department.
SECTION FIVE: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION SIX: This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage.
