0402 RESOLUTION NO. 4 0 2 ( #11 - 88) A RESOLUTION URGING THE SUPPORT OF PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT N0. FOUR OF 1988 (THE FAIR TAX ACT); AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the voters of Arkansas, including many municipal officials and municipal employees, have circulated petitions to place the Tax Reform Amendment on the November 8, 1988, General Election Ballot; and, WHEREAS, the Secretary of State has certified that these petitions are sufficient and the Arkansas Supreme Court has approved the ballot title and popular name of the Tax Reform Amendment; and, WHEREAS, the Municipal Officials of Arkansas meeting at the 54th Annual Convention of the Arkansas Municipal League on June 14, 1988, unanimously adopted a Resolution urging all municipal offi- cials to actively support the Tax Reform Amendment at the General Election on November 8, 1988. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: SECTION ONE: That the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, does support and urges all the citizens of Arkansas to support and vote FOR proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 4 of 1988. "AN AMENDMENT TO REPEAL THE PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX ON HOUSEHOLD GOODS; TO REQUIRE A VOTE OF SIXTY PERCENT (60 %) OF THE LEGISLATURE OR APPROVAL BY POPULAR REFERENDUM TO LEVY OR AMEND ANY TAX; AND TO AUTHORIZE A CONSOLIDATION OF PROCEDURES FOR MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION." SECTION TWO: This Resolution shall be published in the local newspaper and the City Clerk shall mail copies of this Resolution to all newspapers, television stations, and radio stations in the area. SECTION THREE: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION FOUR: This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date of passage. APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS DAY OF , 1988. THERE WAS NO COUNCIL ACTION TAKEN ON THIS RESOLUTION.
